Ancho Poblano Chillies

Description: Ancho Poblanos are dried Poblano chillies and originally came from the mountainous state of Puebla, east of Mexico city (indeed natives to Puebla are often called "Poblanos" by their fellow Mexicans). Ancho Poblanos are a hugely popular variety of chilli in Mexico and are used in lots of dishes including tamales, stuffed poblanos (chilli rellenos), numerous varieties of mole sauce and many other favourites.

Origin: Our Ancho Poblanos are grown and dried under the hot Mexican sun.

Heat: Very mild (1000-2000 Scovilles)

Flavour: Sweet and raisin like flavour.

Use: Ancho Poblano chillies are one of the 3 key chillies used to make the national dish of Mexico Mole Poblano. They are also good in Chipotle Chicken.

Recipes: Great in: Red Mole Sauce, Rice with Corn Poblanos & Cream. For all our Ancho Poblano recipes click here.
