Christmas leftovers…Latin style!

For us the best part of Christmas is always the festive food! We’re talking tasty canapes, cheese boards, roast turkey with crispy roasties and plates piled high with pigs in blankets. Yum. You name it, we’re gonna eat it!

 

We know times may be a little tough this year, so this Christmas we want to make the most of what we have and make sure nothing goes to waste. Come Boxing Day if you’re anything like us your fridge will be full of Christmas leftovers, with veg looking a little less vibrant than the day before. We’re here to liven those ingredients up.

 

Those day old sprouts aren’t destined for the microwave, we think you can do so much better than that. It’s time to spice things up, add a Latin twist to those roasties and revive those turkey legs for a festive leftover feast. Here's how...

Festive Turkey Taquitos

Perfect for using up leftover turkey - which let’s face it can be a little bland. We add extra 'umph' to these crispy taquitos with either our Mexican Chipotle & Smoked Cumin Seasoning Mix or our Mexican Tomato & Chipotle Cooking Paste. Spiced Up Bubble and Squeak

A traditional winter dish made the Capsicana way. Another great recipe for using up those festive leftovers with a Latin twist! This recipe can be tweaked to suit whatever leftovers you have kicking about, whether that’s sprouts and cabbage, turkey or gammon. Top yours with a fried egg, dollops of salsa and guacamole to take your leftovers up a notch. Boxing Day Empanadas

We LOVE empanadas at Casa Capsicana. These really are one of the easiest ways to spice up your Christmas Day leftovers. Our festive take on empanadas can turn sad looking leftovers into little pastry pockets of goodness. We use our Argentinian Garlic & Paprika Seasoning Mix in this recipe, but if you can’t handle the heat swap it out for one of our milder seasoning mixes or cooking pastes.
